Role: Microsoft .Net Developer

Hours: 9:00am - 5:30pm, Monday - Friday, some flexibility on start and finish times is possible

Salary: £36,000 - £38,000 per annum

The Role:

An exciting opportunity to join the business development team at CEGA as a Microsoft .NET Developer, and to take on an important role helping to deliver software development services to the business. Working in a fast paced environment, you will be expected to undertake activities to support the business as well as being responsible for the delivery of new .NET based projects.

We are looking to attract a skilled Microsoft .NET Developer who will be comfortable supporting and developing new .NET applications of all complexities in response to requests from CEGA and our extensive client base. Working as an important part of a dedicated business development team, you will enjoy a key analytical and development role, actively managing development projects and associated processes. On a day to day basis this will involve:

  • Working closely with the business and customers in order to design and implement .NET windows and web applications to an agreed specification and time scales. In particular, develop the next generation of first notification of loss web application and supporting applications and processes.
  • Maintaining existing .NET windows and web applications in order to facilitate the ongoing support to customers and the business.
  • Taking responsibility for the ongoing support and maintenance of the core CEGA claims handling solution.
  • Supporting on-going change initiatives and integration into the existing risk and control environment, with a focus on improving procedures and processes that are centred on the accuracy and availability of data.
  • Ensuring that the Business Development Team Lead is aware of all operational issues within remit and advising as issues occur.
  • Working alongside the rest of the software development team in order to help deliver reporting and software solutions.

Experience & Skills:

You will have a proven track record as a .NET developer and be familiar working within Visual Studio 2015 or later and have experience of ASP.NET (HTML5, CSS, JavaScript, Frameworks e.g. Bootstrap), C#, software development methodologies, and be fully conversant with SQL Server (SQL and T-SQL). It would also be advantageous to have experience of SSIS and SSRS.

Ideally applicants should be an experienced developer at graduate level, with a strong commercial background and financial services experience, who can demonstrate:

  • Experience developing responsive web applications using .NET stack (C#). Working closely with project stakeholders to design and implement functional web solutions. 
  • Strong understanding of UX concepts.
  • Strong understanding of object orientated programming and a range of design and architectural patterns.
  • Experience working in a structure software development environment with exposure to the full development lifecycle including requirements capture, design, implementation and (automated) unit testing. Use of source control tools and processes e.g. TFS.
  • Experience developing web service interfaces i.e. SOAP, Restful
  • Experience developing ad-hoc desktop tools to support the activities of the team/business.
  • Proven ability in designing complex queries in SQL Server (2008R2 and above), with experience using large databases. Experience designing and creating databases to support web application development.
  • Appreciation of secure coding practices and web security principles.
  • Solid planning/organisational and relationship management skills.
  • Having an understanding of core DPA/GDPR principles.
  • Relevant exposure to a similar regulatory reporting environment and proven data analysis expertise gained within a related Insurance business context.
  • Data visualisation and creation of dashboards and dynamic charts with data from SQL databases using Excel, SSRS and other BI tools (e.g. Tableau) would be advantageous.
